Long Beach, Washington

June 30 2012

We ventured out to the nearby villages of Sea View and Long Beach today, in Sea View we drove out onto the beach and drove along the shore for a little bit before returning to Main Street and our town tour. Sea View is very small; it sits right up next to Long Beach, the tourist town of the area. We parked the jeep and walked the main street of Long Beach, visiting shops that interested us, eating ice cream; we bought a few things and listened to a blues band in the town park. The area reminded both of us of the less developed areas of the outer banks.

Continuing north we drove to the next beach town, this one called Park View. We drove out onto the beach again; wide, firm and flat we drove several miles on the sand just enjoying the ocean.

After dinner we returned to the Sea View beach again, this time with the dogs. We let them off their leaches, dogs just gotta run free once and a while! We’re still working with Dixie, getting her to return when called. She’s very obedient unless distracted by a dead fish or something and then she pretends not to hear. Today whenever she tried to ignore the COME command, I would say, that’s Ok Maggie will get a treat and Dixie would immediately come running back and sit down right in front of us.

It was a good day; tomorrow we may go back across the Columbia River to Astoria Oregon to check it out. It is right on the river and may have a downtown waterfront tourist area. It may also have some historical significance; it is on the Lewis and Clark Trail.
