Today we have jumped out of the Thousand Trails campground system and
are staying in Marin RV Park which is located in Greenbrae, a
neighborhood adjacent to San Francisco. As we entered San Francisco
today the expressway ended and became a city street. We passed through
several city neighborhoods of connected homes, but the architecture is
different than what you think of as inner city row houses. Soon the
route took us across the Golden Gate Bridge, it was pretty cool taking
the motorhome over the city icon, if we have time we want to go back and
walk over the bridge.
From the park we are in we can walk to a
ferry landing and take a boat down the bay to the city waterfront. From
the waterfront we can access the city trolley system, including the
cable trolleys which have just returned to service after a two year
rehabilitation. We can can and already have walked to several stores
just down the street from our urban setting. Another unique feature here
is an unobstructed view of San Quentin prison, now there’s something
everyone has heard of but not many can say they’ve seen it!
When
we left LA we had seen enough city for a while or so we thought, but we
are excited about going to downtown San Francisco tomorrow. The
adventure continues!
