Today was supposed to be a travel day but we took a small detour in order to visit the National D Day Memorial in Bedford Virginia. Why Bedford you are probably asking?
Bedford lost 19 men on Omaha Beach on the first day of the invasion. There were only 3200 residents living in Bedford in 1944 making their loss proportionally the worst in the nation.
We are night camped near Hillsville Virginia at Lake Ridge RV Resort, $19 for the night using my Passport-America discount card. The campground is very nice and well maintained; our site has full hook ups, but no cable.
Tomorrow’s destination is Breckenridge RV Resort in Crossville Tennessee. It will be a free stay, a perk of one of my discount memberships.
We are nine days into the road trip, dogs and people are all still having a great time, but we never expected any less. Hope y’all are enjoying the ride along with us.
